Children's Ear, Nose, and Throat
Main ContentEar Infections & Ear Tube Placement
More than 80 percent of children will suffer from an ear infection by age 3. When infections become too frequent, a safe and common solution is the placement of ear tubes (ventilation tubes) in the eardrum.
If your child experiences any of the following signs or symptoms, it’s time to be evaluated by a pediatric ENT doctor:
- three or more ear infections in six months or more than four in a year
- ear infections that do not easily clear or respond to treatment
- hearing loss or suspected trouble hearing
- speech delays due to hearing problems
- persistent ear pain or discomfort
The Procedure
Ear tube surgeries at Children’s ENT take place at Children’s of Mississippi Sanderson Tower in state-of-the-art surgical suites. The surgery is performed by one of our board-certified pediatric ENTs with the support of a pediatric anesthesiologists and surgical support team who focus solely on the care of kids.
